Topics Education Launches TopicsFinancial.com
New Website to Emphasize Company’s Focus on Financial Education
CHARLOTTE, NC – Today, Topics Education, a strategic communications firm specializing in education outreach, announces the launch of TopicsFinancial.com, a website devoted exclusively to the company’s focus on helping organizations tackle financial education matters. Given the urgency of the need across the United States around personal financial literacy, TopicsFinancial.com helps Topics Education showcase its depth of expertise in creating financial education outreach campaigns and resources for its corporate, nonprofit, and government clients.
Bruce Nofsinger, who is a Principal at Topics Education, will lead TopicsFinancial.com. “I used to joke that there were relatively few of us who had drunk the ‘financial literacy Kool-Aid,’ but the world of financial education advocates is growing by the day — driven largely by the widespread negative effects of low rates of financial literacy among our citizens. I look forward to our playing an even more active role in fostering greater financial literacy.”
Topics Education has spent much of the past 10 years working on financial education curriculum and outreach programs for clients such as Citigroup, Citi Cards, Visa, Junior Achievement, Wachovia, Countrywide Financial, North Carolina Department of the State Treasurer, Bank of America, and the Fannie Mae Foundation. Topics Education programs are designed to achieve measurable educational impact by shaping attitudes and changing behavior towards positive ends.
A sampling of programs Topics Education has created include: a presentation and online assessment teaching the dangers and benefits of credit cards to college freshmen; a comprehensive website helping equip first-time homebuyers with a better understanding of mortgages; and a statewide survey of seventh-grade students assessing their knowledge around financial literacy that helped convince lawmakers to increase legislation requiring financial literacy courses in public schools.
